MAYOR'S INAUGURATION OF COMMUNITY READ PROJECT

WHEREAS, One Book, One Community Programs have united and uplifted hundreds of cities and principalities in California and America; and

WHEREAS, the book “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin tells the thrilling story of one man’s mission to promote peace and education, one school at a time; and

WHEREAS, the culmination of this reading program will feature a visit to Fremont of the book’s remarkable co-author Greg Mortenson, who teaches us all that one person can change the world for the better and is an inspiring and gifted speaker; and

WHEREAS, the Fremont Branch of the American Association of University Women in collaboration with the Alameda County Libraries, City of Fremont, Fremont Unified School District, California Retired Teachers Association, and Afghan Education for a Better Tomorrow have resolved to bring this community reading project to the citizens of Fremont, Newark and Union City;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Wasserman, Mayor of the City of Fremont, do here by promote the One Book; One Community Program and the reading of this excellent book to all Fremont residents.
